I’m writing this entry inspired by “Down-to-Earth Mama”, located at http://www.dtemama.com/.
How do I plan to make the world a bit better? That’s a difficult question to ask somebody in this day and age. Not only does the world suffer in environmental context, but also in the political and social scene. I plan to, one day, take action by my own expense, but I have yet to decide how I will do so. Possibly my acceptance to university will further this goal. Maybe becoming a journalist was really meant for me. For me, writing has been the best way to express my feelings and opinion to the world. I never expected to get anywhere with it, but the feeling was plenty for self-satisfaction. But I did. I plan to keep moving on, until I reach my new personal goals. Hopefully, in the future, I’ll be able to write inspirational content for the world to see, getting the world to face reality and stop living in fantasy and illusion. We need change, and I hope someday my writing can provoke an improvement in society.
Now it’s your turn. Where do you plan on making the world better?
P.s. I know this entry is of a different style, but I hope it wasn’t too bad! If you are at all interested in photography or the environment, please visit Down-to-Earth Mama’s blog! You’ll be pleasantly surprised.
As you surely have noticed, I revamped the blog site to a Halloween theme during the early days of October. I wasn’t able to update the blog much though, due to heavy school workload. Though, I find myself with the time to write something up tonight… finally!!!
First of all, I would like to bring up “shopping for Halloween costumes”. I, myself, did not have much luck finding a costume this year, but I have a decent backup-plan: ZOMBIE! That’s going to be fun- turns out my whole family is going to be zombified. I prefer homemade costumes, but they require too much time to make in most circumstances. At least being a zombie allows me to still piece together my own costume, being oh-so-creative and all. Oh well, there’s always next year.
Searching endlessly for costume ideas on the web, I fell upon many interesting and funny costumes. Here are a few I’d like to share:
Pretty unique if I do say so myself. There were many other costumes I found interesting, but I was unsuccessful in my attempt to retrieve them all.
So, what are you up to this Halloween… or should I say what were you up to this Halloween? Partying hard, or striking gold trick-or-treating!? I hope to accomplish both! Don’t forget to post what you were dressed as!
I was recently shown this interestingly weird website! It’s called Giant Microbes.
Basically, it’s a site where you can purchase plushies of various germs. bacteria, and things of the like. I sure had a few laughs reading this site. They are considered “educational”, as they include information on the germ that the plushie represents, as well as a picture of the real thing. Some of them are gruesome, but most of them are just hilarious! Who knew herpes was so… cute? Other plushies include: pimple, bad breath, the common cold, flu, rabies, malaria, algae, krill, and who could not forget… sperm cells.
Sorry that I haven’t posted in such a long time. I’ve been pretty busy with school work and that sort of thing… ahh projects.
Anyway, I stumbled upon another video I figured I would share until I have time to write something new up for the site. It is basically a “real life tetris”, entirely animated with real people. I suggest you don’t watch it entirely though, because it gets extremely annoying after a very short while. Somehow, I still found it a little amusing haha!
Human Tetris
They also have a few other interesting productions, notably:
SYDNEY, Australia – U.S. and Australian authorities are investigating the smuggling of snakes and venomous spiders that were found in a parcel in Sydney, an official said Wednesday.
Customs Service officers in Australia’s biggest city discovered five harmless pythons and two dangerous South American tarantulas at the Sydney airport last week when they X-rayed a package that had been posted from the United States, Customs investigations manager Richard Janeczko said.
The creatures were later killed because they posed a quarantine risk, Janeczko said in the capital, Canberra.
Janeczko would not say from where in the United States the parcel – declared as baby toys and shirts – had been posted.
He said Australian officials based in Washington were communicating with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials on a U.S. investigation into who had sent the parcel.
In Australia, charges were expected to be laid against at least one alleged importer after customs officers and police raided a Sydney home Tuesday and seized evidence, Janeczko said.
Importing snakes or spiders without a license can attract maximum penalties of 10 years in prison and a 110,000 Australian dollar (US$92,000) fine.
Who knew people would start trying to pull these kinds of things off? Can I say: Snakes on a plane? This is a quite possibly a clean example on how the media influences people’s actions, maybe it isn’t, but either way, it was not a very smart decision. How I love this kind of irrelevant news! What are your thoughts on it?
Who knew this popular franchise would finally be brought back? I was surprised the other day as I stumbled upon an episode of Mr Men on TV. I remember as a child, reading those tiny booklets, with two-liner stories, which had the goal to promote values and morals depicting a community of people who’s personality was their name.
Obviously, this show was produced for preschoolers, but the animation quality is just so unique and plain odd that I was somewhat interested for the little while I had watched the program. I was probably just astonished at the memory of these little guys. Do you remember Mr Men? Who is your favorite? I have a Mr. Perfect t-shirt, he’s the greatest! Mr. Persnickety comes pretty close on the awesome scale though!
Today I went to see the full length screening of the animated film “Terra”. It was developed by Snoot Entertainment, and it’s producer was a former special effects artist for popular films, namely Titanic.
The story was loaded with morals on how human beings aren’t able to coexist, share resources and treat our planet with care. There were also many well known actors, such as Evan Rachel Wood, Luke Wilson, Dennis Quaid, Amanda Peet, Danny Glover and James Garner. Amazing cast for an independent film!
Anyway, I just wanted to express how wonderful the message was, and the entire presentation was dazzling. The 3d animation was seamless and the effects were ground breaking. Not only that, but the music and storyline were great! You can really see potential in this film- now let’s hope that it makes its way to theaters!
Hey guy. I just wanted to let you know that on the right hand sidebar there will be an icon with a link to join the facebook blog group for Squidabble! Please join it and support the blog by becoming a fan.
I found this on youtube a while back. It’s just a really crappy kids animation that ended up being banned from television. Let me know what you think, if you decide to watch it.
Very creepy, disturbing children’s cartoon, banned from TV
